Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

MatchUp Sports is a sports organization application developed by Henrique Armelin Baggio Vieira and Rodrigo Macknight. The app lets users discover sports venues, create and join matches, connect with other players, and track their sports activity through rankings and gamification features.

This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store and protect personal information when you use the MatchUp Sports application or related services.

By using the app you agree to the practices described in this Policy. If you disagree, please do not use the app.

2. Data We Collect

We collect only the data necessary to provide and improve the MatchUp Sports experience.

2.1 Account Information

Name or display name – used to identify you to other players.
Email address – used for authentication, account recovery and support communications.
Password / authentication credentials – stored securely; we never store passwords in plain text.
Age or date of birth – collected when provided, used to comply with age-appropriate service requirements.
Gender – collected when provided, used for sport-specific match filtering and rankings.
Other profile information – any additional details you voluntarily add to your profile.

2.2 Avatar and Profile Picture

If you choose to upload a profile picture, it is stored and displayed within the app exclusively to help other players identify you before sports matches, increasing trust and credibility among participants. Your avatar is never used for facial recognition or biometric identification.

2.3 Location Data

MatchUp Sports uses your device location to provide its core features. We may collect:

Approximate location – to show sports venues and matches near you.
Precise location (latitude/longitude) – when you actively use map features, create or save a sports venue, or create a match tied to a specific place.

Location data is used to display maps, find nearby sports venues, allow you to create and save places, link matches to locations, and show matches near you. We do not continuously track your location in the background without your knowledge.

2.4 Sports Match and App Activity Data

Matches you create: sport type, date, time, location, description.
Matches you join: sport type, date, time, location, your participation record.
Sports venues you create or save.
Rankings and performance data per sport type.
General in-app activity related to your use of the service.

2.5 Ranking and Gamification Data

MatchUp Sports features a ranking system organized by sport type. This system tracks your match participation and sports activity to calculate positions among players. There is no betting, no gambling, no games of chance, no paid contests, and no financial rewards of any kind in the app.

2.6 Technical and Diagnostic Data

Device type, operating system version and app version.
Crash reports and error logs – to identify and fix technical issues.
Performance diagnostics – to improve app responsiveness and stability.
Authentication and security logs – to protect your account from unauthorized access.

2.7 Analytics Data (Current and Future)

We currently use Firebase and Google services for app infrastructure including authentication, database, and cloud storage. In the future, we may also use these or similar services to collect aggregated analytics and usability metrics, such as:

Screen views and navigation flows.
Number of matches and venues created.
Feature usage statistics and general engagement metrics.

Any such analytics data will be used exclusively to improve app usability and inform product decisions. It will not be used for advertising profiling or sold to third parties.

3. How We Use Your Data

Create and manage your account.
Authenticate and secure your sessions.
Show sports venues and matches near your location.
Allow you to create, join, save and manage matches and venues.
Display player rankings organized by sport type.
Enable other players to identify you through your display name and profile picture.
Send transactional communications (e.g. account-related emails).
Detect, investigate and prevent fraud, abuse and security incidents.
Diagnose technical issues and improve app performance.
Comply with applicable legal obligations.
Improve the app through aggregated, anonymized usage analytics.

4. Data We Do Not Collect

MatchUp Sports does not collect:

CPF, RG, passport numbers or any government-issued identification documents.
Payment card data, bank account information or any financial data.
Health data or medical information.
Biometric data (fingerprints, facial geometry, voice prints, etc.).
Sensitive official documents of any kind.
Gambling, betting or wagering data.

MatchUp Sports does not sell your personal data. We do not share your personal data with third parties for advertising or commercial resale purposes.

We may share data with trusted service providers who help us operate the app, including providers of hosting, database, authentication, infrastructure, analytics, diagnostics or cloud services. These providers are contractually required to handle your data securely and only for the purposes we specify.

We may also disclose data when required by law, court order or governmental authority, or when necessary to protect the rights, property or safety of MatchUp Sports, our users or the public.

6. Third-Party Services

The app uses Firebase and Google services for core infrastructure including authentication, real-time database, cloud storage and potentially analytics and diagnostics. These services are operated by Google LLC and are subject to Google's own privacy policies.

When you use map features, your device may interact with mapping services. We use location data provided by your device's operating system and map service APIs solely to deliver in-app functionality.

7. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure or destruction. All data transmitted between the app and our servers is protected using HTTPS/TLS encryption. Passwords are stored using industry-standard secure hashing.

No method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially reasonable means to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Data Retention

We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary to:

Provide the app and its features to you.
Maintain security and prevent fraud.
Comply with legal obligations.
Resolve disputes and enforce agreements.
Maintain technical logs and backups for system integrity.

When you delete your account, your personal profile data is removed from our active systems. Some residual data may be retained in backups and logs for a limited period as required by law or for legitimate security purposes, after which it is permanently deleted.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you.
Request correction of inaccurate data.
Request deletion of your data (see Section 10).
Object to or restrict certain processing activities.
Data portability where technically feasible.

10. Account Deletion

You can delete your account at any time:

Inside the app: Go to Profile > Settings > Delete Account.
Via web form: If you no longer have access to the app, use our Account Deletion page.

Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Upon deletion, you will lose access to your profile, avatar, match history, saved venues and all account data. To use MatchUp Sports again you must create a new account.

11. Children's Privacy

MatchUp Sports is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected such data, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at support@matchupsports.com.br.

12. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of the page. We encourage you to review this Policy periodically. Your continued use of the app after any changes indicates your acceptance of the updated Policy.
